April 10 Equal Pay Day
Equal Pay Day is the symbolic day when women’s earnings “catch up” to men’s earnings from the previous year. It’s also a powerful occasion to raise awareness about and organize action around the gender pay gap in your community. We need your help to organize AAUW Equal Pay Day activities in all 50 states. Check out this exciting news from Starbucks on their pay equity plans with AAUW to get energized about the future of pay equity.
April 12 Submit Dues for New Members to Ensure Voting Eligibility
To ensure all new members are eligible to vote when the 2018 bylaws amendments vote opens, AAUW’s national office must receive their dues. The official voting rolls are maintained by the national office.
April 18 AAUW Group Exemption Season Opens
All AAUW-affiliated entities must file a tax return with the IRS each year. If your annual gross receipts are normally $50,000 or less, you can file Form 990-N. AAUW can also file Form 990-N for you if you complete the group exemption form in the MSD, which is available beginning April 18.

IRS regulations state that automatic revocation of federal tax-exempt status occurs when an exempt organization fails to file Form 990-N for three consecutive years. Please provide your information to us to ensure your Form 990-N is filed in a timely manner!

April 25 AAUW National Bylaws Amendment Voting Opens
Make your voice count in this year’s AAUW vote. Voting opens April 25 and closes June 9 at 9 p.m. ET.

May 1 Attention, Presidents: Report All Leaders for Fiscal Year 2019
Keeping your officer lists current helps staff and member leaders communicate with you and ensures that all officers are kept in the loop. Branch and state presidents should report all officers for fiscal year 2019 in the MSD by June 1. States and branches with continuing leaders must also report their officers. Branches holding elections after the June 1 deadline should submit their officers’ names as soon as possible.
June 30 Dues and Free Memberships
If your branch finance officer received notification from records@aauw.org about overpaid dues during fiscal year 2018, you must use those credits by June 30, when our fiscal year closes. Simply subtract the credited amount from your total and return the credit form along with your next membership dues remittance. Memberships must be redeemed by June 30.
